Privacy policy

This policy explains how BWG Steel Framing ("we", "us") handles personal information collected through this website. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

• Details you enter in our quote and callback forms: name, company, email, phone number, project suburb, state and postcode, and information about your project.
• If you send your details from the website chat assistant: the conversation and the project details you gave in it.
• Files you upload, such as architectural or engineering drawings.
• Technical information about the visit that led to your enquiry: the page you arrived on, the page you submitted from, campaign parameters in the link you followed (such as utm_source) and advertising click identifiers.
• Website usage information collected by Google Analytics 4, described below.

Why we collect it

To prepare quotes, contact you about your project, supply our products, keep records of enquiries, and understand which pages and channels bring us enquiries so we can improve the website. We don't sell personal information.

Your drawings

Plans and drawings you upload are treated as confidential. They are used only to review and quote your project, are not published, and are accessible only to our team through the form service described below.

How forms are processed and stored

Form submissions are validated by this website and stored by our website host, Netlify, Inc., which also emails a copy to our team. Netlify stores data outside Australia, including in the United States. By submitting a form you consent to your information being handled this way.

Website chat assistant

The chat on this website is an automated virtual assistant, not a person. It answers from information published on this website and asks a few questions about your project. While you chat, the conversation is kept only in your own browser for the visit (it is cleared when you close the tab, and after two hours). Nothing you type is sent to our team unless you choose to send your details and tick the consent box.

When you do, we receive your contact details, a summary of your project and a copy of the conversation, so you don't have to repeat yourself. The conversation copy and any plans are stored privately by Netlify (outside Australia, as described above) and our team opens them through links that expire after 90 days. Chat records are kept and deleted under the same rules as our other enquiry records (see below). The assistant does not use an artificial intelligence service; if we add one, we will update this policy before it is switched on. Please don't type information we don't need, such as payment card or bank details.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the website is used, including which pages lead to quote requests and phone calls. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies. We don't send your name, email, phone number, messages, chat conversations or files to Google Analytics. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

We advertise with Google Ads. The Google Ads tag on this website records when a visit that came from one of our ads leads to a quote request, a callback request or a tap on our phone number, so we can see which ads work. It also lets us show our ads again to people who have visited this website (remarketing), on Google Search and on other websites. Google uses cookies for this. When you send a quote request, a callback request or your details through the website assistant, the email address and phone number you entered are passed to the Google Ads tag in your browser, which converts them into a one-way hashed code before sending them to Google. Google uses that code only to tell us whether the enquiry came from one of our ads (Google calls this "enhanced conversions"); it does not give us any information about you in return. We don't send your name, messages or files to Google Ads. Some of our ads include a short form hosted by Google: if you send your details through one, Google passes them to us and we handle them the same way as this website's forms (Google keeps its copy for up to 30 days). You can turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry records for as long as we need them for the purposes above and to meet our legal obligations, and then delete or de-identify them.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or make a privacy complaint, by emailing enquiries@bwgsteelframing.com.au or calling 07 2142 1772. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
